The correct pronunciation of Mount Everest is "eev-rist." It's named after Sir George Everest, a surveyor from Wales, and that's how his last name was pronounced.

The first product to use a UPC symbol with a bar code was a pack of Juicy Fruit gum, in 1974. And it's now in the Smithsonian.

The Oompa Loompas in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" were originally called Whipple Scrumpets. Roald Dahl changed their name at the last minute.

It's bad etiquette to eat a hot dog in more than five bites. At least according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
