Anyone who caught a glimpse of Gwen Stefani with her boyfriend, Blake Shelton, at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards likely saw the No Doubt singer and Voice judge beaming, clearly thrilled to be there. In fact, she was so excited that she took to Instagram and posted a shot of herself smiling ear to ear at the event, captioning the photo, "@officialdanilohair thanku for giving me Barbie hair for date night 😘."
However, it wasn't her excitement or her impressive hair that many of the commenters focused on - instead, it was the gorgeous 49-year-old's face. Trolls used the post as an opportunity to shame Stefani.
Many tried to be subtle, noting how the pop star "does not look like herself," but that spiraled into a debate over if Gwen has gotten plastic surgery on her face or had some kind of cosmetic procedure on her lips. Among the hateful remarks were things like:
"New lips who dis?"
"Chill on the surgery."
"Your doc over did it."
"Who ever did your lips needs to no longer be practicing."
"Too much too fake it doesn't fit you."
"She looks horrible, like a clown. All of this plastic surgeries."
"The lip injections have gone a little too far."
Of course, Gwen's fans stuck up for her, pointing out how "age doesn't appear to have touched" her, and telling the trolls that Gwen hasn't had any procedures rather is just a master at makeup. In fact, Gwen even responded to one fan who complimented her makeup and asked if the singer did it herself. Stefani wrote, "thank u!! yes I did!!" and perhaps as a way to say that her look is all based on cosmetics, added the hashtag "#magicisinthemakeup."
