Walk for Awareness Moved to Tomorrow January 26!

The Walk for Awareness has been moved to Saturday, January 26.  What is this about you ask?  Well, last week we had two special visitors in the studio: Sierra Harris and Julianna Tompkins, local high school seniors and best friends who explained this very special project to us.

Julianna and Sierra are hosting this 3K Walk/Run at James Baird Park on the 26th of this month to raise money for S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions).  One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward raising funds to bring the Herren Project's founder Chris Herren, former NBA basketball player and former substance abuser, back to Arlington to speak to the community.  The girls explained that the Herren Project's goal is to help others get on the road to recovery and to keep young adults away from addictive substances.

Michelle and I are beyond impressed with these two young women who have dedicated their energy to such a wonderful and necessary cause.  Not to mention their selflessness, and their poise, eloquence and enthusiasm.  What a pleasure and inspiration to spend some time with them.

If you'd like to know more about the Walk for Awareness, visit their website, or the Arlington Central School District Facebook page.  To learn more about the Herren Project, you can visit here.

I hope many of you will be inspired to lend your support.  Thanks, everyone, and please help spread the word--perhaps share this page.
