Two High School Seniors Work for a Great Cause

We had two special visitors in the studio on Thursday: Sierra Harris and Julianna Tompkins, local high school seniors and best friends who are working on a very special project.

Julianna and Sierra are hosting a 3K Walk/Run at James Baird Park on Sunday January 20th to raise money for S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions).  One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward raising funds to bring the Herren Project's founder Chris Herren, former NBA basketball player and former substance abuser, back to Arlington to speak to the community.  The girls explained that the Herren Project's goal is to help others get on the road to recovery and to keep young adults away from addictive substances.

Michelle and I are beyond impressed with these two young women who have dedicated their energy to such a wonderful and necessary cause.  Not to mention their selflessness, and their poise, eloquence and enthusiasm.  What a pleasure and inspiration to spend some time with them.

If you'd like to know more about the Walk for Awareness, visit their website, or the Arlington Central School District Facebook page.  To learn more about the Herren Project, you can visit here.

I hope many of you will be inspired to lend your support.  Thanks, everyone.
