Michelle and I usually see Maureen Kangas when we visit the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel, but Maureen dropped by to see us, and to tell us about the annual Go Red for Women Luncheon coming up this Friday, November 9 at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie.
Heart disease is a very big deal--the leading cause of death for women (did you know that?!). Most women don't even know whether they are at risk. Because of less than optimum diets, lack of exercise, busy and stressful lives where women customarily put the welfare of everyone else ahead of their own health, women need to be aware of the choices they can easily make (sometimes, we know, NOT so easily) so that this silent killer won't take them by surprise. Do you know, for example, whether or not you have high blood pressure? Hmmmm.
More than 80 percent of heart disease and stroke is PREVENTABLE just by making some lifestyle modifications, like the fourteen local women in the BetterU Challenge are doing. You'll hear their inspiring stories at the Luncheon--that's one of my favorite parts!
If you'd like information, inspiration and motivation, and a great lunch in the company of like-minded women, don't miss the Go Red for Women Luncheon. Tickets can be purchased online here. Or call Danielle at the American Heart Association at (845) 867-5379.
Oh! and I almost forgot to tell you--Michelle and I have the great privilege of emceeing the Luncheon again this year.
