Here's a picture of yours truly in my 1973 Super Beetle. I owned it, or was the caretaker, back in the mid-1990s. It had that distinctive VW Bug engine sound. And it smelled like an old car. But it sure was fun to drive, especially with the top down. Putting the top down and up, by the way, was a major project. This car took me through all kinds of weather, including snow on the way to the radio station in the morning, before the plows were out. It was a valiant little car. And sometimes, especially in the summer, I miss it. I believe it has a new home now, somewhere near Albany. "Long may you run . . . "
