Woman Opens Fire At DMV Office Because The Line Was Moving Too Slow: Cops

A Missouri woman was arrested after she allegedly opened fire outside of a DMV office in Kansas City. Police say the woman, who has not been identified, fired two shots at the building because she was upset with the long line inside.

Patricia Zick witnessed the shooting and told the Kansas City Star that the woman entered the Parkville Licensing Office and demanded to be helped immediately. She started ranting and raving, and Zick thought she may have been on drugs.

“Something was wrong, I don’t know what it is — drugs, mental or whatever — but she just insisted on getting taken care of immediately,” Zick said. “'The president’s security was in danger,' she said.”

The woman argued with workers for about ten minutes before she stormed out of the building. Once she got outside, Zick saw the woman reach into her purse and pull out a handgun. She fired one shot into the air. She then fired a second shot into a mulch bed as the workers and customers fled the office.

Authorities arrived at the scene, tackled the woman and took her into custody. Police say that nobody was injured and the woman never made it back inside the building with her gun.

“We’re still early on in the investigation, but it is to my understanding that she didn’t make it into the DMV,” Erik Holland, a spokesman for the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, said. “People saw the gun before she got in. The doors were locked, and she fired the shots before she got into the DMV.”
