High School Grad Has Pizza Party For Homeless Instead Of Graduation Bash

Veterans Secretary, Entrepreneur Feed Homeless Vets

A teen in Texas is celebrating her high school graduation by giving back. LeanneCarrasco recently wrapped up her days at Waltrip High School and instead of having a blowout bash to mark the end of high school, she opted to have a pizza party and give care packages to residents at a homeless shelter for women and children.

Carrasco says she didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on a party for herself that “would only last a day.” She had volunteered at the Star of Hope Family Development Center in Houston before, so she wanted to help the people there instead. Her family and friends helped the grad order 95 pizzas and make around 400 hygiene care packages and they had a party for close to 200 people.

“Not a lot of people have the same options as me. It’s not fair,” Carrasco says. “There are a lot of people who need help. So I give it.”
