Pink Reveals The Important Lesson She Learned From Her Mother

With Mother's Day approaching this weekend, Pink and several other celebrities have come together (in part by UNICEF) to share some sweet words about their upbringing and how their mothers shaped their lives.

As per a new video from PEOPLE, the 39-year-old pop star, who is a UNICEF ambassador, shared some insight on what it was like for her to grow up under a divorced union. "In honor of Mother's Day, I just want to tell you a short story about my own mom," she said in a message with her two-year-old baby boy, Jameson, by her side. "She was an ER nurse and worked full-time saving lives. She taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance and that you would go to the ends of the Earth for your children. I think that’s true for every mom, everywhere."

Elsewhere in the clip, model Halima Aden and actress Sofia Carson spoke about their upbringing, sharing stories about their mothers' strength and encouragement while growing up. While Aden explained that her mother walked 12 days to get from Somalia to Kenya, Carson emphasized just how important her mother's heart is to her essence. "My mom is my whole entire world," she said. "She is the most unstoppable, selfless, generous heart I have ever met. If it wasn’t for the sacrifices that she made, I wouldn’t be who I am today. She literally and truly is the wind beneath my wings."

Part of the trio's campaign with UNICEF involves spreading the word about the organization, which is encouraging folks to honor their mother's name and purchase a UNICEF-inspired gift from their online marketplace. The organization provides mothers with lifesaving supplies to give their children a happy and healthy childhood. Click here for more information!
