Having Trouble In A Certain Area of Learning? Playing Video Games Can Help

Great. As if my boys don’t already hit me up for more time to play their Switch or Xbox.

New research from the University of Saskatchewan suggests that playing video games could improve reading skills. The researchers say that gaming may improve peripheral attention skills, which are essential for reading ability.

They tested gamers based on what games they played and how many ‘peripherally-located’ objects had to be identified by the players, then tested them on both real and made-up words. The scientists say players of some games “tended to have faster reading reaction times” than others.

My questions is are these same scientists getting badgered by their kids to constantly play their video games …instead of playing outside?

Thanks guys.
