POUGHKEEPSIE – A knife assault in Poughkeepsie sent a woman to the hospital while police searched for the assailant. The incident occurred near the 300 block of Mill Street around 11:45 Saturday morning. In a little over two hours, a suspect was arrested.
City of Poughkeepsie Police responded to the scene and encountered a woman with multiple stab and slash wounds to the head, face, hand, and shoulder. The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.
The victim was treated and the scene and transported by Mobile Life Support Services to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for treatment.
The police continued their investigation and arrested 40-year-old Tasha James on Saturday at 2 p.m. James was arraigned in City Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on the felony charge of assault.
Police officials say that the victim is expected to make a full recovery.\
