State allows casinos to increase capacity

KIAMESHA LAKE – Since casinos were allowed to reopen months ago, they were only allowed 25 percent of their capacity.
The state has now increased that to 50 percent, something that is welcome news to Resorts World Catskills, said Meghan Taylor, vice president of government affairs and community relations.
“We are very much looking forward to it. We can’t believe that it is almost 14 months or so since we closed the doors last year and to be at 50 percent capacity in the coming weeks is really music to our ears and we are looking forward to welcoming guests back,” she said.
Taylor said on most weekends, the casino was at or near the 25 percent capacity it was allowed and with the vaccine rollout, she expects more people to come to the Kiamesha Lake facility.
