Woman falls through ice trying to rescue dog from pond

LAGRANGEVILLE – Union Vale firefighters rescued a woman who fell through the ice on a pond in Lagrangeville Thursday evening.
She had apparently gone out on the ice near 2250 Clove Road to retrieve a dog at around 6 p.m. when the ice gave way.
Initial reports indicated that the woman was approximately 20 feet from the shore in water that is estimated at five feet in depth.
Firefighters were able to rescue the woman and bring her to the shore where she was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Poughkeepsie.
The dog was also rescued by the first responders.
