MIDDLETOWN – The old armory in Middletown has been vacant for decades and it is on the market for only $595,000.
The building is privately owned by a Long Island investor, who is listing it for sale as a shell.
Realtor Greg Tarone said he has offers on the table, but nothing has come to fruition yet.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano said no buyers have materialized over the many years.
“Every couple of months we hear something about it and give them the leads we are getting and it is up to them now to put together a deal and then we will work with the new property owners throughout the process,” he said. “We have had a lot of false starts on that.”
Uses for the building could include a school, gym, club, community center, museum, or offices, Tarone said.
