GOSHEN – The crash of a helicopter performing a routine training mission near Rochester claimed the lives of all three New York National Guard members including one from the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus made the announcement on Thursday evening.
“At least one of the individuals is from Orange County. It is definitely hitting home. I know a lot of people that knew the one individual. I know the name, but I am not going to announce the name. It just happened a little over 24 hours ago,” he said.
The chopper was assigned to C Company of the 1stBattalion, 171st General Support Aviation Battalion and was based at the Army Aviation Support Facility at Rochester International Airport
