ALBANY – The latest number of positive cases of the coronavirus in the Hudson Valley in one day reached 921 on Sunday, the latest day of statistics.
Orange County, which has been a yellow zone is on track to becoming an orange zone with additional restrictions because of the spread of COVID-19. Governor Cuomo also announced on Monday that Brewster is on track to becoming a yellow zone.
Because of the spread, the Newburgh City Council Monday night imposed a mandatory face mask law during the continued state of emergency, as noted by City Manager Joe Donat.
“This will be on both public and private premises and this will also apply to owners of businesses. They are obligated to maintain compliance within their commercial establishment,” he said.
Violators will be given a mask and a second violation could mean a fine of $250 to $500.
Last week, the Middletown Common Council adopted a similar resolution.
