Three in critical condition after truck slams into school bus

NEW WINDSOR – A crash between a school bus carrying students from Little Britain School in the Washingtonville school district and a truck sent three people to the hospital in critical condition n Wednesday, New Windsor Town Police said.
There were eight children on the bus: seven walked off and were brought to the hospital to be seen by medical professionals as per school protocol and good practices, the police said. They were all treated and released.
The two drivers and a little girl who was sitting behind the bus driver had to be extricated and were taken to the hospital. The two drivers are in critical condition and the child is in critical but stable condition.
The accident occurred around 8:21 a.m. on Route 207 in New Windsor when a commercial tree service truck was heading westbound, crossed over the double yellow line, and crashed into the eastbound bus.
New Windsor Police were assisted by State Police Blooming Grove Police, the State Police Accident Investigation Unit, and State Department of Transportation.
The accident remains under investigation.
