There’s two weeks left until Election Day, with many people already casting their ballots in early voting. For many this year it seems more important than ever that people go to the polls, and some people would be willing to go to great lengths to make sure those around them do just that.
A new Glimpse Social survey finds:
-- 46% of Americans say they care enough about the election to bride their friends and family to vote (this is to vote in general, not to vote for a particular candidate).
-- Another 20.5% would be willing to guilt them into voting, while 10.5% would use reverse psychology.
As for what they’d bribe them with?
-- 6.6% would bribe them with food or baking.
-- 5% would be willing to offer a “cash bribe.”
-- 3.4% would feel comfortable offering a “romantic” bribe. I think I need to discuss this one with Mrs. Marino.
What folks are willing to offer in exchange for voting does differ by gender.
-- 66.4% of men would offer a romantic bribe as compared to only 33.6% of women.
-- Men are also more likely to offer a cash bribe than women (55.3% vs. 44.8%)
-- Women are more likely to go with a food bribe than men (61.3% vs. 38.5%).
And while some people would never consider not voting, there are those who usually don’t. As for why people think some Americans won't exercise their right to vote this year.
-- 29.4% speculate it’s because people don’t think their vote will make a difference.
-- 25.9% believe people “don’t want to vote for either candidate.”
-- 19.9% blame laziness.
