Three Valley Central students test positive for COVID-19

MONTGOMERY – Three Valley Central School District students have tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent John Xanthis said on Thursday.
In a letter to the community, he said one student each at Walden Elementary, at the middle school and at the high school, tested positive.
The Orange County Health Department was notified to assist the district with identifying and contacting staff and parents and guardians of all students that were probable direct, close or proximate contacts with the infected individual in the classroom/school building or on the school bus.
All three schools are closed on Friday with remote learning while the three buildings are cleaned and disinfected. The high school will remain closed on Monday, October 19 because of staff shortages, Xanthis said.
“We strongly recommend that you take action to help limit the spread of COVID-19, even if your child is not experiencing symptoms,” said Xanthis. “Please answer the phone if the health department contacts you. A contact tracer may be trying to reach you with important information,” he said. “Parents/guardians must also do their part by checking their children’s temperature each morning and checking for any symptoms of COVID-19.”
