Two assaulted in hotel, assailants arrested

MIDDLETOWN – A man and woman were assaulted in a hotel room by the man’s ex-girlfriend and three others at an Orange County hotel. The victims were treated at Garnet Health Medical Center (GHMC) and the four alleged assailants were sent to the Orange County Jail.

The State Troopers were summoned to GHMC on Saturday, August 15, at approximately 11:05 a.m.to investigate a possible assault. While interviewing the injured female, it was learned that she was assaulted at a local hotel along with a male acquaintance.

Members of the Bureau Criminal of Criminal Investigation (BCI) interviewed the male victim. He stated that he and his lady friend were sleeping in the hotel room when his ex-girlfriend and three other subjects entered the room and began beating the two of them with a “monkey fist” keychain. The female victim received contusion and lacerations to her head. The male victim received contusions to his face. His vehicle along with $1,500 in was taken from the scene by the defendants.

The alleged assailants, 25-year-old Bronx resident Zhane Murray, Alexus Lerouge, age 25 of Wawayanda, 27-year-old Daquan Gill from Brooklyn, and Justina Ferguson, age 45 Wawayanda were all charged with the felonies of Assault 2nd degree, Grand Larceny 4th degree, and Burglary 1st degree. All defendants were arraigned virtually in the Town of Wallkill Court. Murray, Gill, and Ferguson were remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond while Lerouge was remanded to Orange County Jal in lieu of bail $50,000 bail or $150,000 bond.
