STEWART AIRPORT – The annual New York International Air Show at New York Stewart International Airport is still set to take off on the weekend of August 29 and 30.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said they are moving forward with plans for the show, which he said will look different than previous events because of COVID-19 including as much as one-third less attendance allowed.
“Right now, we are having a lot of discussions with emergency management and health workers; how do we make it work, how do we safe. It might look like a drive-in theater where you pull in with a family,” he said. “The tickets have to be bought in advance; you are not showing up with more people in the car. You are going to go to a designated area where you are going to be in like a sitting area and you will be isolated. If you have to go to the bathroom, you to go get food, you will wear a mask.”
The governor has already canceled the state fair in Syracuse and all county fairs across the state. It is unclear would have the final say on whether the Stewart airport show goes on this year because of the pandemic.
