Shooting investigated in City of Newburgh

NEWBURGH – A Shot Spotter notification around 11 p.m. on Sunday brought Newburgh City Police to the area of Benkard Avenue and William Street.
Officers recovered several shell casings and while on the scene, police were dispatched to the hospital for a report of a man who arrived with a gunshot wound.
Police went to the hospital where they met Christopher Johnson, 26, of Newburgh, who they said was uncooperative with officers and hospital staff.
The incident is under investigation and police ask anyone with information to call them at 845-561-3131.
