Should You Read To Your Child From A Print Book, Rather Than A Tablet? Yes

While plenty of people only read books using e-readers these days, parents may want to think twice. A new study published in JAMA Pediatrics finds that parents who read to their children using actual books have a better chance of bonding than if they use tablets.

It seems parents and kids enjoy more of a back and forth that comes with a real book, while the only back and forth parents and kids have with a tablet is over who has control of the device, with kids more likely to try and take the lead and push their parents away.

But that’s not all, study author Dr. Tiffany Munzer adds that when it comes to parents who read from tablets, “their language use may not be as potent," adding, "With a print book, parents feel they can cozy up with their kids and make the story come alive."
