This is the view from our room at Mohonk Mountain House Sunday morning. We were up early to watch the sunrise from our balcony. Gradually the skies brightened, burning off the clouds hanging below us in the valley. We were above the clouds, eye-to-eye with the hawks.
The weather was perfect and we spent part of our time hiking some of the trails, including the one that lead to this hidden lily pond, where we watched fish, turtles, ducks, frogs and birds as they, no doubt, were keeping an eye on us.
Staying even for a day or a few hours at Mohonk is such a special experience and one we are very glad to have had. It is another one of the treasures of the Hudson Valley.
