CORNWALL – A 38-year-old City of Newburgh woman was killed when her car crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck another vehicle on Route 32 in the Town of Cornwall Saturday night, State Police said.
Helen Rivera was traveling south in a 2009 Toyota Corolla when she crossed into northbound lane and struck a 2010 Dodge Journey. Rivera, the sole occupant in her car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Dodge was driven by Catherine Swartz, 32, of Highland Mills. Two of the nine passengers in her car were taken to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
