TILDA’S KITCHEN & MARKET ON BROADWAY FILLS A NEED FOR MEALS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TILDA’S KITCHEN & MARKET ON BROADWAY FILLS A NEED FOR MEALS

Kingston, NY, January 22, 2021 – As COVID continues to close run through our communities, local businesses are stepping up to alleviate some of the food insecurity facing the Hudson Valley. When the Everette Hodge Center in Kingston was forced to close its kitchen this week for a COVID scare, a number of community groups came together to provide all of the meals for their clients.

Tilda’s Kitchen and Market, working in solidarity with the Kingston Emergency Food Collaborative, was honored to provide 50 sponsored meals to the Hodge Center on Wednesday to give the organization time to recover. The Salvation Army also provided meals on Wednesday to fill the gap that was left. Tuesday’s meals were provided by YMCA Farm Project, Thursday was provided by Hickory BBQ, and Friday’s meals were generously created by community members and restaurateurs.

The plates of white baked ziti with penne, ricotta, spinach and mozzarella served with garlic bread were sponsored by Jenkinstown Motors, Ulster County Community Action, and the Farm Hub. "Tilda's Kitchen & Market was created as a community kitchen that can step up to donate nutritious meals when we're needed,” says chef Mel Wolfeil. “Our sponsorship model and the generosity of our community helps make it all possible."

Tilda’s, located at 630 Broadway in Kingston, is a project of the Hudson Valley Current, a community currency designed to generate abundance and strengthen the local economy. For more information about our local currency, visitwww.hudsonvalleycurrent.org.
